Aretera Golf Shafts
I’m excited to announce a new line of shafts I’ll be carrying from a company called Aretera (pronounced Are-Uh-Tera) after reading some great reviews on their new line of shafts.
The company was started by four industry veterans Alex Dee, Michel de Fontaine, Bill Stiles, and Chris Elson and their enthusiasm about their products and company is contagious.
The shaft designer is Alex Dee. Alex was with Fujikura for 25 years and was responsible for their popular Ventus line, as well as the Vista Pro, Axiom, Pro, Speeder Pro, Motore, and Blur. He also developed their Enso system.
The first two shafts are the ΣC1 Blue and Grey. They’re both mid launch/mid spin designs with the Blue having a slightly softer tip vs. the grey. I love the classy graphics and paint treatment, quite a break from some of the wild designs I’ve seen from other companies.
Their shafts are designed 20 plies where a standard shaft has 5-7 and a softer mid section/firmer butt and tip section. The plies alternate one layer at 45 degrees, one layer at 0 (most shafts have an inner layer at 45 and outer at 0). This gives the shaft its unique feel and control.
Here’s what they have to say about the new shafts:
At ARETERA, we pushed our limits to design a shaft line with a compliant mid-section while simultaneously addressing erratic performance and stability issues often associated with similar shaft profiles.
We started with reimagining the typical layup of a golf shaft and employed an advanced layered technique in the ΣC1 product line to unify plies responsible for resisting twist and bending throughout the wall thickness.
The ΣC1 utilizes ultra premium exotic materials to the layup in critical areas and in strategic orientations promoting enhanced torsional stability with a seemingly effortless flowing transfer of power.
Features a more compliant mid-section with firmer butt and tip sections providing for a very smooth, balanced feel promoting higher launching conditions.
Enhances overall connectedness and torsional stability throughout the shaft without compromising feel or performance while minimizing excessive spin common to off center hits. Promotes more consistency in repeatable centerness of contact and a more fluid loading of the shaft not typically experienced in compliant mid-section designs.
Here are the specs for the ΣC1 Blue and Grey:

The price is $320 plus shipping. I’ll install an OEM sleeve and Star grip at no extra charge (a $40 value). Send me a note to order this unique new shaft.

As you know, Bryson plays the Krank Fire Driver and fairway woods.
Bryson’s Krank Fire driver is for golfers with world class ball speeds but Krank also makes two Fire driver models for us mortals.
I like the Fire XX head for most senior golfers and I build them with the Hiskei Wave shaft upgrade and it’s priced at $399. The Fire XX is designed for golfers that drive the ball under 200 yards or so. It has a super thin (and non-conforming) face for maximum trampoline effect. If you drive 200-250 yards then try the Fire X. It also has a non-conforming face but it’s a bit thicker than the XX model. I also combine this with the Wave shaft. The Fire Pro model is for over 250 yard drivers. All three models are on sale for $399 (same as direct from Krank) but with the Wave shaft upgrade at no extra charge.
I can combine the Krank Fire driver series with about any shaft, send me a note to talk about the right shaft/flex and to order.
Krank also has a new 13 degree Mini driver that’s great for tight fairways. Bryson also used the Krank fairway woods. I’m building those with the Wave shaft, also, priced on sale at $219 with the Wave shaft upgrade. Comes in 3/5/7/9/11/13/15 degree lofts! Send me a note to order or to talk about shaft combinations.
I have a customer that tried the Fire XX with a Project X LZ lightweight shaft that he likes to play and picked up 10-15 yards vs. his Callaway driver. I can still find these and will build the drivers on sale for $399 with this shaft.
If you bought a Krank driver elsewhere and would like to upgrade the shaft, I have the Krank adjustable sleeves and can ship you a Wave shaft with the sleeve installed and ready to screw into your Krank driver. Don’t want a Wave shaft? Let’s talk about other combinations. Send me a note to order.
Star STX Grip
I finally had a chance to try the new Star STX grip. It comes in a standard and +1/16 midsize in black, grey, or white.
It is ultra-tacky with an aggressively textured design and is made with their proprietary StarTack material.
I’d compare the texture to the old SandWrap grips from back in the day.
Price is $11.99 each for standard and $12.39 each mid size. I can box them up in a flat rate box to help with shipping. Shipping is $10 for 10-12 grips. Send me a note to order.
